Fair Day

We just got home from the fair. Another fun day. Lots of games, rides and fair food. (It was really good this year.)
Shortly after we got to the fair Aubree saw a friend. Kylee was there with her dad and they got to spend some time on rides and looking at animals. Here are some of the highlights.

Good Bye to a Dear Man

Yesterday Lorin and I went to Milwaukee to a funeral. His uncle Orland passed away. Although we know he is in a much better place and it is only a matter of time before we will all see him again - God willing - he will be missed. It was wonderful to see his family and "catch up" with them. We really don't do that often enough. As Tim said to me yesterday it seems that sometimes "Life gets in the way".

God Bless You All. We love you lots and you all are in our prayers.

(I took this photo on the way home - there was such a beautiful golden glow to everything as we were traveling through this area.)

Over the Hump

For the past several days Aubree has been fighting a nasty bug. It started last week when she woke up Thursday morning with a fever. Thursday and Friday were spent at Nana's (H and M were off having a garage sale in our garage) so Aubree spent most of the day on the couch watching TV, coloring, etc. There was some throwing up, headache, etc. Saturday brought a party that H & M were supposed to go to. She said she was feeling better and although she had a fever, she seemed to be doing better sooooo...... Off to the party and CJ babysat. (I think Aubree was so excited to have CJ come and spend the time with her that she would have faked feeling better just to have her come.)
Well right after dinner H got a call that Aubree was throwing up and was worse. So back home they go..... then to the ER.
"Must be a virus - bad case of the flu" was the conclusion. Clear liquids for the next couple of days. Sunday was much of the same, however, when we looked in her throat - lots of spots. (They - the ER doctor - never looked in her throat on Saturday????) Back to the pediatrician on Monday. Lots of poking, blood, swabs, etc. Everything negative. Virus????
Monday was spent at Nana's - Here she is - Not so good.

And...... Here she is on Tuesday - Still not so good.
Back on Wednesday. Still a bit of a fever but don't you think she looks better. I think she is over the hump.
Cute story -- When Heather told her on Thursday she must have a "bug". Aubree decided that must be what it was. She said when she was playing outside the day before a bug flew up and hit her in the forehead so that must have been it.
It is so good to see her feeling better. I hate when kids get sick.
(Aubree just saw the post and said "That's what I look like when I am sleeping - Owugh!)

Happy 50th Anniversary

This past weekend my aunt and uncle celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They had a party to celebrate their achievement on Saturday in Marshfield. I helped them out with the decorating. Here is a "sneak peek".

This is one of the centerpieces. I have about 50 of these vases and I do submersed flowers. When we can, we float candles. They always turn out so beautiful.

This is the area the cake was set up. That is her wedding dress and veil. She even still had her bride and groom from the top of her cake. I did the flowers for the tops of the cakes and saved a spot for them. It was so beautiful.

Everything turned out just wonderful and they were so happy. I was glad to be a part of their day. It was so different working with a party like this rather than a wedding. It is amazing what is important to people as they get older.

Here is a picture of Lorin and me. We only have 22 more years before we hit our 50th!
Congrats Janet and Urban. We love you lots.

It is still summer

Although the weather stinks, looking at all the flowers in bloom really does help. This miniature rose bush is one I picked up last year for $1. It was almost dead and I thought it looked like it needed some love. It made it through the winter just fine and it is full of buds. I love how delicate it is.
Hopefully tomorrow will be warmer than they said. I have a lot of gardening to do.

Berry Pickin'

Last night the kids came over. L & M had to run an errand so while they were gone I suggested to Aubree that we go pick berries. I was out in the patch earlier in the day and noticed some ripe raspberries. She was so excited because she likes to get the berries before Papa gets in there. She needed a bowl - and of course she picked the pink one. She wanted to fill the bowl. Do you see any berries in the bowl? Here is how it went. One berry in the bowl, one in the mouth, one berry in the bowl, two berries in the mouth, one berry in the bowl, three berries in the mouth.... Oh heck with it, just put them all in the mouth and we don't need the bowl. Papa came home to an empty bowl.
Last year we started the berry patch and have added to it this year (Thanks Deb!) So far only a few berries, but so much fun to go check to see what is ripe. Last year Aubree was so excited when she got to the garden and got to pick the one and only blueberry on Papa's plant. She couldn't wait to pick again this year. Hopefully there will be a few more than last year but I'm not so sure. Oh well, we have some raspberries. I wonder if I will have enough for a pie (not if Aubree picks).

So That's Why I'm Pooped!

So as I was trying to decide what to post tonite, I decided...... I couldn't decide. What a busy weekend. It all started on Thursday - Aubree and I got a Nana/Aubree day! We have so much fun and try to pack as much into each day as possible. We swam, watered flowers, went fishing, went for a walk, had a picnic, rode in the "little car" to go get ice cream, made sand castles and swam some more, to name a few. Friday, I had a meeting in Marshfield to discuss a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party I am doing there the end of the month. When I got home the kids came for pizza and "fun". We were walking by the pond and Aubree found a frog. Here she is catching the frog. She is such a "girly girl" yet has so much fun with frogs, snakes, fishing, etc. I guess that makes for a well rounded child. Heather told her to kiss the frog and see if it turned into a prince...... so she did! No Prince.

Saturday was a crazy day starting with cleaning the house, watering flowers, etc. We had Casey's Bridal Shower in the afternoon, then went to meet friends for dinner and to go to the Hot Air Balloon Rally in Wausau. Heather, Morgan and Aubree were also with. Although the wind picked up and they were not able to take off, they did inflate and give everyone a "Glow Show". They were beautiful and it was a lot of fun.

There were a "gazillion" people there and most were in line to get food. They could have had about 10 times the amount of concession stands there. Most lines had about 200 people in them. There was even a stand that sold deep fried oreo cookies......that's just wrong!

Aubree had the best seat in the house - She got to sit on Papa's shoulders.

They had the Hot Hare Balloon there also. It is the largest balloon in the world. It was huge and awesome to see.

The day ended long after dark with a trip to DQ.... Gotta have that ice cream.

Sunday started with setup in the park for Sunday's Church Service. Our church has a service in the park each month in the summer. It is a wonderful service and very relaxed. It was a little chilly and it started to rain, but I still think everyone enjoyed it.

The afternoon took me to Munson Bridge Winery. I have an upcoming wedding there and needed to take care of some details. It is such a beautiful place and should be a wonderful wedding. For those of you who have not had an
opportunity to visit there, it really is worth the short trip. Wonderful atmosphere and the wine is excellent.

The weekend ended with "Hayseed and Cooks", the kids and friends coming for an impromptu cookout and to swim. Although it was a bit chilly, the water is about 90 so plenty warm and so much fun. The slide was getting a workout...not only the little kid but also the big kids. Glad everyone had so much fun.

Aubree also had an eventful day. She lost her first tooth. The tooth fairy will be making a visit there tonite.
One last photo of my "Pickles" I took a bunch of these and thought they turned out so cute. I need to do a little Photoshop but thought I would post one.
Also got a call on Saturday that some very good friends of ours are Grandparents again. How exciting for them and the happy mommy, daddy and big brother. Congrats to all! Can't wait to see that new little bundle.

What's Better Than Fireworks?

This Is! Or, should I say - She Is!. We were at Jason and Lacy's for the 4th to watch the fireworks and we got a bonus. Jesse and Lynn were there with their beautiful new baby girl. Not sure how many fireworks we actually saw - we Grandma's had to share this little munchkin. I don't think she even moved during the entire fireworks show. Thanks Connie for letting us share her for a night! What a sweet little girl. Not that it would happen, but if you are ever in need of a stand-in grandma/Nana, give me a call (I know there was another grandma there that would also step in if needed.) Enjoy her - she is just precious.

At one point it was no longer my turn to hold her so I decided to take a few photos of the fireworks. Trying some new settings to see what I could come up with - longer exposures, etc. Here are a few of them that I thought were kindof cool. Can't wait till next year to try a few more.

In the Company of a Celebrity

Last night a bunch of us went to Monster Hall for the races. Brad was racing his four wheeler - who knew he was so good?
Here are a bunch of shots of him racing. I don't think his butt ever touches the seat when he is racing.

A little drama during one of the races. Here is one of the racers who flipped off and broke his collar bone. However, he got back up and finished this race and raced in one more after this - on his wheeler. According to B he is an "old" guy. We aren't sure how old he actually is since age is a relative thing. When you are his age, old can be 30, but supposedly he is in his 60's. (No that's not a typo I did put 60's) Crazy. I know my body wouldn't take that abuse.

Brad had adoring fans. This little boy came up to him and asked for his autograph. Others were coming up to him and K & S and making comments. How exciting.

Brad won his heat and then took first place in the feature. CONGRATS BRAD! Can't wait to come see you again next time.

Anyone know this guy? We asked if he was going to race his car and he said he didn't have it there. BTW - Someone should really post a picture of that thing for everyone to enjoy. It certainly is a piece of "art".
